I just completed my first session and absolutely loved it, after I hurled (lol). Kidding. I can no longer walk up and down my stairs nor pick up pots and plates for dinner. Is this part of the nutritional diet?
Your ability to teach, demonstrate patience and know when to push me was fantastic. I unfortunately had to leave before watching the 3:30pm class. However, I will attend a class on Tuesday of next week then sit down and sign up. Your commitment to your customers is commendable and admirable. Thank you both for demonstrating such warm respect and terrific humour.
Warm regards
Jocelyn Herrett

From running the oh so beautiful beep test (so I wouldn’t have to do it alone), to a random convo that touched my heart, to ur typical CFO high-five….and let’s not forget the encouragement to push through every WOD ![]()
Thank you for everything that all of you are, and for everything you inspire to be!!”

“I just wanted to thank CrossFit Oshawa for the changes you have made to my health and well being. I started with Crossfit Oshawa a year and a half ago and the improvement in my personal fitness is remarkable. Each day I notice that I am stronger and able to achieve goals I could not before. This is remarkable for a woman who is in her early 50′s.
This weekend and last weekend I raked leaves and worked in my garden for 6 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday. Usually I would be stiff and soar and would have to seek out massage therapy and even chiropractic adjustments.
NOT this year! I feel great and could keep on going. I didn’t even have a soar lower back. This is remarkable for me.
I am not the easiest person to coach as I tend to be a bit uncoordinated at times. CrossFit Oshawa continues to encourage me and keep a positive attitude towards my training. They push me when I need to be pushed and correct me whenever I need to be corrected (which is a lot). Their continued support, patience and knowledge is greatly appreciated.
Although I have worked out my whole life, I regularly ran into situations where I have injured myself from doing exercises incorrectly. I have never had an injury at CrossFit Oshawa. I give total credit to the strict coaching on technique and personal commitment to ensuring everyone is always well prepared on the WOD for that day.
Thanks CrossFit Oshawa for improving my quality of life.”

“Crossfit is a fun, friendly, competitive environment that any true athlete should thrive on. The programming is the new movement of working out and training. I did similar programs with my hockey and soccer teams before I went away [to the states on an NCAA soccer scolorship] and they are nothing but beneficial. I would recommend this to people of all ages as they are tough trainers but can involve anyone in a work out. I plan on continuing their training for many years to come.”

“Just wanted to say thank you to the coaches and supporting athletes within CrossFit Oshawa. The constant encouragement, coaching cues, and motivation provides the energetic atmosphere that I love being a part of. The camaraderie and excitement of stepping into the gym like I’m about to savagely pillage for Paleo Kits and Zone friendly recipes, creates a cohesiveness in our community that it unexplainable. Knowing that because of CrossFit I’m better than I was yesterday and that I’ll be better tomorrow than I am today has me longing in anticipation for tomorrow’s WOD. ’What’s next – who cares, it’s legit.’”

What is CrossFit to you? That is the common question, isn’t it? How has CrossFit affected your life?
CrossFit was rooted into my life by my best friend and boyfriend, Kevin Bowles (co-owner of CrossFit Oshawa). After a quick venture to the nearest high school track, tied running shoes, and a stop watch in hand, I was hooked. The workout as prescribed was four rounds for time, 400m run and 50 air squats; I could only complete 25 air squats per round. I remember the split image of trying to chase Kevin down because I didn’t want to be beat; the episode ended with my body hitting the ground hard from exhaustion.
CrossFit has improved my quality of life. CrossFit provides opportunity for me to off-load energies of life; good or bad. I have gotten to know who I am through CrossFit; how far I can be pushed, how to be persistent, how to survive pain, and what I am capable of. CrossFit has introduced an unexpected confidence for my life. Most importantly, I have met the most unique people and built irreplaceable friendships. CrossFit is my home; my safe-place.
To some, CrossFit is survival. CrossFit is my survival. I have Myotonic Dystrophy, a muscle disorder that I was born with. Myotonic Dystrophy is progressive muscle weakness that makes certain tasks difficult. Common symptoms include the following:
- muscle weakness of the voluntary muscles, starting gradually and progressing slowly
- muscle stiffness
- difficulty raising the head when lying
- difficulty holding an object firmly or lifting it
- difficulty climbing stairs or getting up from a seated position
However, with the consistent practise of CrossFit, and the common movements, I have been able to overcome the challenges of Myotonic Dystrophy and strongly complete tasks.
CrossFit has given me direction; I can expect a good workout, a release, and a social arrangement within each daily routine. I can trust that I will set and reach goals; I will have fulfillment and accomplishment. CrossFit has opened unimaginable opportunity; I am excited for the “constantly varied” experiences that CrossFit has in store for me and my future.
